Bethlehem Chamber Virtual Scavenger Hunt
Created in partnership with BCSD and RCS, the Annual Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce (BCC) Virtual Scavenger Hunt is designed to be a fun and safe way to encourage more than 2,500 students, and their parents, to explore local businesses* and career opportunities, while helping participating organizations to grow their brands and introduce themselves to potential new employees, interns, and customers!
*All for-profit and not-for-profit organizations are invited to participate, except those that provide items or services prohibited by the school districts. Prohibited items include: Tobacco, alcohol, firearms, gambling, vaping, etc.
How the Virtual Scavenger Hunt will work:
- The BCSD Marketing Class is creating a new website just for this event.
- Each participating organization will have a page dedicated to them and will link out to their website (as long is it is approved as secure by the district IT offices.)
- Each participating organization will have a page dedicated to them and will link out to their website (as long is it is approved as secure by the district IT offices.)
- Registered organizations will receive a brief questionnaire from the Chamber to complete so that the BCHS Marketing Class can create a Scavenger Hunt webpage just for you. The questions will include:
- What do you do? What jobs do you provide for various levels of education and training? What is a fun fact about your company that students would like to know?
-
- The BCHS Marketing class will create the webpage when they receive the completed form. The page will include the provided information, a logo, and an image unique to that page that the hunters will match to each organization.
-
- The BCHS students will also search each website for fun facts about each organization. It will encourage the Scavenger Hunters to search the websites for the answers in order to become eligible for a grand prize!
THE FEE FOR ORGANIZATIONS TO PARTICIPATE is $100. (Two options to pay when registering)
- Half of the fee will be used by the BCC team to purchase two $25 gift cards. The cards will be awarded via lottery as prizes for students who participate. The awards will be announced at the BCC First Night event on December 31st.
- Half of the fee will support the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) that provides community education and workforce development, and it will be applied toward prizes for the students.
THE HUNT BEGINS! Starting NOVEMBER 22nd, BCSD, RCS, St. Thomas, and BOCES Middle and High School students will have three weeks to follow a Virtual Scavenger Hunt Treasure Map to find the hidden "nuggets" on participating business pages.
- School districts will build the event into their curricula and career fairs in a variety of ways, older students marketing the event to encourage all to participate, posters for career day focused on what they learned, and more!
- Students who find the minimum number of nuggets will be entered into a lottery to win $25 gift cards.
- Students who find ALL (most?) of the nuggets, will be entered into a lottery to win a GRAND PRIZE (TBD).
- ANNOUNCING THE PRIZES AT FIRST NIGHT: The lottery drawing will occur the last week of December and winners will be announced at First Night in Delmar.
We hope you’ll join us for this exciting opportunity to engage with the local community and support regional education and workforce development.
