About Us

Friends of Five Rivers serves as the non-profit support arm of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's (NYSDEC)-owned and operated Five Rivers Environmental Education Center in Delmar. The Friends group, driven by membership, coordinates a majority of the education programs taking place onsite. These programs include the long-standing and popular science-based Guided School Program (GSP), as well as year-round family nature programs. Consider joining this community group to become part of a collective voice that recognizes the importance and beauty of this local environmental gem. The strength of that voice is vital to an organization that relies on membership, donations, and grants to support its mission of advancing outdoor classroom education and land preservation. With the support of our members, the backing of individuals and companies like yours, our partnership with the NYSDEC, and our volunteer core, Friends of Five Rivers will be able to continue providing visitors and students with an unmatched environmental education experience.
