The Town Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee is in need of a resident to volunteer to serve

The Town of Bethlehem Announces One Vacancy on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee

The Town Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee is in need of one passionate and knowledgeable resident who wants to serve their community on this volunteer committee.

In February 2009, the Town Board established the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee to address bicycle and pedestrian mobility issues in the Town.  The Committee has used a “5E” approach over the years, focusing on engineering, education, enforcement, engagement, and encouragement.  The group is an active working committee that advises the Town on bicycle and pedestrian issues, volunteers at events such as the Walk and Roll Fest and Bethlehem Bike Night, performs education and outreach, and conducts informal data gathering and research.

The majority of the Committee’s meetings occur on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30PM, with no meetings held in July, August, or November.  Meetings are currently held in Town Hall room 101 with the option for attendance via Zoom.  In-person attendance is strongly encouraged.

Candidates from marginalized and/or underrepresented backgrounds are sought and encouraged to apply.  Individuals from Elsmere, Selkirk, South Bethlehem, Slingerlands, Glenmont, and North Bethlehem are encouraged to apply.

For more information on the committee, please visit their web page on the town's website.

To apply, send a cover letter and resume to Nate Owens at nowens@townofbethlehem.org no later than August 24, 2026.
