2020 is a Leap Year - what will you do with your extra day?
Join us as we celebrate Leap of Kindness Day! Created in our very own Capital Region, the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce started this movement in 2016 to encourage people to do something kind for someone else.
The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce is encouraging businesses, their employees, and members of the community to take part in this movement. We’ve reached out to our local non-profit members and asked them for ideas of how people can help them. We are also asking our members and other local organizations to share with us their own creative ideas for participating in Leap of Kindness Day.
No act of kindness is too small! Whether you are donating food or supplies, volunteering your time, or offering a free service to those in need, no act will go unappreciated. You don’t have to wait until February 29th to get started. Review the list below and talk to your workplace, school, club, or group of friends about what organization you might be able to help.
And make sure to let us know what you will be doing in the community by emailing info@bethlehemchamber.com so we can share your Leap of Kindness. Don’t waste your extra day!
Our non-profits are looking for help with:
Bethlehem Grange #137: We are looking for volunteers to be servers for our March 7th Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner, donations of clean plastic bags or paper bags (used for our Craft & Plant Sales and Garage Sales), Members, and a volunteer to help with our Facebook page. Please contact Carol at 518.421.1384.
Capital District YMCA Bethlehem Branch: It's the Capital District YMCA 2020 Annual Campaign. Help us reach our goal of $1,800,000! Ignite opportunity in the community with a donation, which supports programs such as Basket Brigade, Camp Chingachgook, Runing Start, and more. Click here for complete details, and click here for the donation form.
Community Caregivers: We can use basic office supplies such as legal & steno notepads, mechanical pencils, pens, sharpies and file folders. We also need four or five office style dividers (privacy among desks in shared room), a 36” round conference table with three chairs and need a volunteer to assist with updating our website.
Lustgarten Foundation Albany Capital District Walk for Pancreatic Cancer Research: Our 17th Annual Lustgarten Foundation Albany Capital District Walk for Pancreatic Cancer Research will be held Sunday, September 13th, 2020. We are looking for sponsors for this event. Visit our site for details. 100% of all funds raised for Lustgarten Foundation go directly to PC research.
Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post 1040 American Legion: We are currently undergoing several updates and could use some assistance. We are remodeling on our main restrooms in the front lobby with a building modification of installing an elevator to service both the upstairs hall and downstairs lounge. Monetary donations are being accepted, and we are non-profit so donations are tax deductible. A generator was generously donated to us, but we need an electrician to hook it up to the building so if someone is willing to donate their time and services that would be great. We also need our floor cleaned in our banquet hall, whether a cleaning company could donate their services, or if we could get the supplies and equipment and then we would be able to handle it.
